What is gravity?

No one has yet invented a theory that explains dark matter or dark energy and which has predictions that can be verified. Until that happens both dark matter and dark energy are just speculative hypothesis. Basically, until we really understand what is going on, dark matter and dark energy are just ways to fudge the theory so that it agrees with measurements.

An old discredited astronomic theory called the Ptolemaic astronomy used to use fudges like this called epicycles to “explain” the motion of planets; their use set back the advancement of science for hundreds of years. For some reason as I learn more about dark matter and dark energy I keep hearing this annoying little voice in my mind whispering epicycle, epicycle, epicycle over and over again.

You can also see other interesting views on these “dark” subjects by going to the web pages below where, as you will see, there is still a lot of disagreement among scientists about dark matter and dark energy.
