Throw the Rascals out!!

Banks in trouble, high unemployment, poor paying jobs, the housing market in shambles, credit crunches, our infrastructure falling down – the list goes on and on and on. What an economic mess we’re in. And I think it is much worse than is reported. Why? Well, let me elaborate:
- Where are the jobs? As a country we’ve been exporting our jobs for decades and now the consequences are being painfully driven home. What Washington and the “experts” in charge of the economy seem to forget is that the economy’s consumers are the workers! When we lose one then we lose both. No wonder the economy is failing; the work force is being decimated.
- Does anyone think that stimulus packages really work anymore? We are no longer a closed economy. Globalization means that the extra stimulus money is not being used to get the economy moving again. Again why? Because we have exported so much of our industrial base that the money is being siphoned off to enrich foreign firms and expanded our country’s competitor’s industrial base.
- Look at where the TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) money went. That program hardly inspires confidence in the people in charge. Over 750 billion dollars spent (actually borrowed from the taxpayers) and what good did it do and where did it go? Nobody knows for sure because there’s no accountability. Already the banks and other financial institutions have returned for more handouts. Meanwhile the officers in charge have used the money to throw lavish parties and enrich themselves while they lent the money to foreign corporations so that those same foreign corporations can further erode our industrial base and buy up more of our national assets. I ask you, who’s going to stop this disgusting behavior?
- Who’s running the show? Oh boy, take a good look. They are the same politicians, regulators, economists and lobbyists that got us into this mess in the first place. Does anyone truly believe they are the ones to lead us out of this economic quagmire? All we’ve done is authorize the fox to guard the hen house. As Dr. Batra points out in his interesting book “The New Golden Age: The Coming Revolution against Political Corruption and Economic Chaos
“ many of these people have been convicted of fraud. In short, they stole our money and as a reward they have been put in charge of the whole system!
- How bad have all these people messed up the economy? Well, they have messed up big time. The real wealth of a nation is encapsulated in its industrial base. The bottom line? We’ve been so stupid that we aren’t just sending our industrial base overseas but we are paying them to take our wealth!
- And that’s not the end of our folly. We’ve compromised our security as well. Foreign firms no longer have to resort to industrial espionage to compete with us. In our greed and shortsightedness we have structured our trade laws so that we actually give away our technology to our competitors. Now we import critical components from foreign competitors and that provides even more security problems. Already the military has had to restrict the use of foreign electronics devices because espionage code has been embedded into the components. And that’s doesn’t included the reports of viruses embedded in business and consumer electronics!
- It gets worse. Along with the economic mess that has been created we’ve managed to initiate the destruction of our environment, weaken our health and safety laws to the point of ineffectiveness, and squander the legacy left to us by generations of past Americans. A sorry record indeed.
