Other effects
There are a number of other important and disturbing effects caused by our laissez-faire free trade policies (see Sherrod Browne’s book for some examples) but in this post I’ll restrict myself to mainly economic effects. I’ll address some of these in future articles. Here I’ll just note that no nation has remained militarily strong with a faltering economy. The demise of the U.S. economy inevitably means the end of U.S. military power and ultimately the decline of the U.S. as a “superpower” (a misnomer at best and a prime example of ASD). In short, the U.S. is clearly on the road to ruin unless steps are taken immediately to prevent it.
There are other important economic effects of our laissez-faire free trade policies which we don’t room to explore here. Just a quick note on one of these effects suffices to illustrate the folly of the United States of America free trade policies. Since we have been exporting so much of our industrial base abroad the traditional methods of stimulating an economy in order to recover from a recession (or depression) are no longer effective. Why? Because the extra stimulus money pumped into the economy is now siphoned off to overseas companies instead of being used to jump start the economy. In effect we are paying our competitors for the privilege of buying us out with our own money! Just how stupid is that?
