Norton Computer Attack

This post is not a story I normaly post because my Internet Service Provider (Comcast) changed from a McAfee virus detection program to Norton. I thought VISTA was a piece of s**t but Norton is even worse. After installing Norton my computer runs markedly slower which should have been my first clue but I persevered. I shouldn’t have.
Trying to use the Norton software to do a backup was a disaster. First off the program takes forever to run and I only have 5 Gb of data. I shutter to think how long it would take to backup a reasonable amount of data. After freezing my computer 3 times requiring a total reload I quit but it was too late. Each time I tried to do a backup it took longer to process the data before the computer died.
The last backup attempt took over 36 hours! After investigating the problem I found that my C: drive disk space had grown from 5Gb to over 90Gb! Just what is Norton doing writing all this junk to my disk? And just where is it? It isn’t in a hidden file (I looked) and its driving my nuts. Tying up third of my disk space is simply absurd. I’ve been trying to contact Comcast to fix this problem they put on my computer but to no avail.
Well if I can finally fix my computer I’ll write a post on some family travel adventures but in the meantime I’m trying to find a way to clean up my C: drive and do a backup. Thanks for staying tuned to my blog.
