is a FAMILY FRIENDLY web publication featuring an eclectic mix of (hopefully) humorous stories, answers to (mostly children's) questions, interesting news topics and odd or eccentric viewpoints and opinions. Basically we cover anything that interests me (aka Grandpa Oddball). If you have a question or topic you'd like to see covered click on our ask or suggest links. If you have a news item you'd like to share or if you have alternate viewpoints or opposing views to our opinion pieces that you'd like to submit click on our submit link. We're not proud and will consider any family friendly inquiry.

Ask Grandpa Oddball a Question

I'm glad you found this page because it's the heart of this website. This whole project started when my grandson (age 8) started asking me some simple yet profound questions via email. I found that I not only enjoyed answering the questions but that many many adults also liked to read my answers. Since it was too much trouble to email each person individually we (my wife and I) hit upon the idea of providing my answers over the internet. The project then just seemed to grow with a life of it's own from those humble beginnings.

Anyone can ask any question and I will try to answer it but I prefer children's questions. To be honest my priorities are my grandchildren's questions first, other children's questions next then everyone else. I will try to answer as many questions as I can for as long as I'm physically able (apparently this is considered by my family to be good mental therapy during my recovery).

Some typical questions are "Is outer space empty?" or "is thar aleeins in spase?" and similar questions. My answers are crafted for age 8 and up but are intended to be read by a child and their parents together. I have therefore put in links to background information so that the parent has some reference material available in case the child has some additional questions. Much to my surprise this procedure has captured more interest from adults than from children.

So ask away but please keep your questions short and to the point (that is, pithy) and remember this is a family web site. Just enter your question in the box below and provide your email address and I will add it to the list of questions I'm researching.
