That's right I need help. I've never run out of ideas before and it's a new experience for me. Always a surfeit of ideas have boiled up in my brain often driving me crazy; usually they were not good ideas but at least they were ideas. Now my brain has hit a brick wall and feels somewhat numb. It's more than a little disconcerting.
I did have a number of ideas but they have all evaporated leaving the idea well dry. They evaporated because of a number of unfortunate circumstances. Our vacation plans seem to be crashing around us and my grandchildren have stopped asking science questions. They seem to have proceeded on to new interests as they grow up. And it's not just my grandchildren who are silent. People have stopped asking me questions via the web site ask or suggest contact pages. This has left me in a quandary.

Blind irrational overwhelming unreasoning rage striking without warning. Sometimes amusing in a perverse sort of way but often causing not just havoc but, on occasion, death. Unfortunately plagues of anger and violence continue spreading unchecked across the globe creating an epidemic of unprecedented proportions.
I'm not talking about outrage or legitimate anger. I'm talking about some serious contagions gradually infecting all the world's various cultures be they religious, political, economic or even philosophical in nature. The fundamental question is; What is the cause and how do we combat or cope with this pestilence?

Have you ever been scared? Not movie scared but scared by incidences in your life. I have and it was some most unpleasant experiences. Mostly I got scared for my wife and children but on occasion events affecting me would scare me but usually not at the time. When the events occurred I would usually just get mad at my own stupidity. It was only later when I realized the consequences that I would let the potential outcome scare me.

My son was emphatic, his patience growing thin at the slowpoke ahead of us. Traffic was thick and blowing a horn would do little good but that cuts no ice with the young. I think he may have wanted to just hear the horn. This trait repeatedly surfaced over the years. When I first started using a cane he got a big squeeze horn and attached it. I couldn't really use it since I only had one useful hand. Later when I was confined to a wheelchair he complained about the wimpy horn on the chair. If I listened to my son he would have installed a big aah-ooga horn.

1001 horsepower, that's what the ad said. Apparently 1000 horses wasn't enough. They had to emphasize that 1 extra horsepower. If you are going to be ostentatious you may as well be sure people notice!

When you stop to think about it the concept of nothing or rather nothingness is truly a mind boggling conception. Most people equate the idea of nothing with empty and that is certainly one valid historical meaning but nothingness is much more (or perhaps I should say much less) than empty. In fact the word empty is meaningless where nothingness is involved. Nothingness means read more about nothing

This post is not a story I normaly post because my Internet Service Provider (Comcast) changed from a McAfee virus detection program to Norton. I thought VISTA was a piece of s**t but Norton is even worse. After installing Norton my computer runs markedly slower which should have been my first clue but I persevered. I shouldn't have.

Sometimes you see or read things that just make you wonder. Not too long ago I read an article in our local paper about a bag lady in a nearby town that was found dead. Apparently she was a well know figure in the town and the paper had a short biography of her life that struck a tragic cord in me.

2010 is upon us and it's an exciting start to a new year. What will the year bring? Using history as our guide we'll get a new beginning full of promise, hope and certainly the unexpected as well as the crazy, bizarre and demented behavior of those around us. In past years others have documented this type of behavior (e.g., the Darwin Awards) and, of course, you have to ask, "What were they thinking?". The usual response?" It seemed like a good idea at the time!"
