is a FAMILY FRIENDLY web publication featuring an eclectic mix of (hopefully) humorous stories, answers to (mostly children's) questions, interesting news topics and odd or eccentric viewpoints and opinions. Basically we cover anything that interests me (aka Grandpa Oddball). If you have a question or topic you'd like to see covered click on our ask or suggest links. If you have a news item you'd like to share or if you have alternate viewpoints or opposing views to our opinion pieces that you'd like to submit click on our submit link. We're not proud and will consider any family friendly inquiry.
We set up GetOddNews with no restrictions so that anyone can use all its features. You don't have to sign up or log in to use anything on the web site except to leave a comment. For comments we require a "log in" in order to reduce the ubiquitous presence of comment spam. I did this so that if it is useful to children they'll be able to use it.
I hate to do this but keeping this web site going takes a lot of resources both in time and money. With my medical problems we have little of each of these resources available. Of course if no one finds the site interesting perhaps it should die but if you do find it interesting and would like to see it continue then we'd appreciate it if you could help support the web site with a small donation. I know that times are tough (boy, do we know it!) so whatever you can donate will be even more appreciated. Note: In the unlikely event we receive excess funds we'll donate them to MS research!
In order to make your support easier financially we've developed two donation plans as presented below. On the left is a simple one time donation using PayPal. You can donate any amount but because of processing costs we've set a minimum amount of $10.95 USD. If you'd like to donate a smaller monthly amount (easier on the pocket book) then sign up on the right. Again because of processing costs we've set a minimum monthly amount of $5.95 USD. Of course you're always free to do both!!!!
